This is the design I have decided to for the CD tray/fold of my Digipak for Clarity. I discussed with Mr. Earl yesterday and have chosen to design each side of my Digipak using the Fragment app to add in different shapes, carrying on from the triangle design that I am using for my front cover.

This is the design I have decided to go with for the front cover of my Digipak. I chose the image as the artist is covering her eyes with her hands, this links/contrasts with the title of the album. I have chose to name the album Clarity after the song I chose for my music video. The lyrics discuss that their partner is their 'clarity' but they have problems that they manage to see past it. 'Love is blind'. I was inspired by Lorde's album booklet design where the image is distorted and layered over and over and repeated. Here is an example of a page in her booklet:

 

 

To attempt o get a similar effect to this I used the app Fragment for iPhones which layers and distorts images at a click of a button.

 

 

Using the app I was able to create a similar effect to the Lorde's booklet. However I also played around with other styles of editing. I added the '3D glasses effect' to also signify clarity linking to the title once again.

 

 

I was also inspired by Katy Perry's album prism. I particularly liked the use of the triangle on the back of the album. This also links to the common use of triangles in the typography of popular Djs/Producers.

 

 

 

This inspired the use of the triangle on my front cover and tying all the different pieces of work I have looked at previously together.

 

 

The blurred background was inspired by the teaser cover for Gorgon City's album. This was also a contrast with the album title of 'Clarity' but also makes the image inside the triangle that is clear stand out significantly.

When planning and filming my music video I was inspired by a scene in the music video for jealous by Beyoncé. The scene shows Beyoncé sat alone at a dinner table. I thought this was really effective and represented the idea of the unfaithful and unreliable partner which many people would be able to relate to at some point in their life.

Today I organised to get up early and go down to the beach to film a scene. I managed to convince Niall to wake up early to get the shots before his football match at lunch time. However when we got to the beach and got set up I tried to turn the camera on and it would not turn on. I was confused because I had charged it the day before. It turns out I made the huge and stupid mistake of leaving the battery pack in the charger. It was embarrassing and very unprofessional. Since we had woke up early and went to the beach to make do with the equipment I did have. I used my IPhone 5s to film. However, this does not mean it is the best possible quality but it will  have to do. It may not be as obvious when I edit the footage into the fast paced up tempo part of the song.

I have been completing thorough research on the codes and conventions of a Digipak for Female solo artists who have famously collaborated with DJs and producers. I have also been experimenting with different designs for my Digipak. I have chosen to go with a six sleeve Digipak to base my Digipak on. Here is the template I will use:
